All modules are worth 30 credits. You will choose two modules in the year. Any can be chosen though we advise module PMEM04 if you intend to go on to Masters
Supervision and Support of Medical Learners
Focusses on the support and supervision aspects of medical education. An extension of the teaching role suitable for those who are postgraduate educational supervisors, personal tutors, programme leads or are in a position which manages and directs pastoral and individual support structure. Based on the GMC domains required for supervision the module covers learning environments, culture, educational governance, learner support, educator support and implementing curricula.
Research Methodology in Medical Education
Introduces the student to qualitative and educational research methodology in order that the student can frame a research question and design an appropriate study. If you intend to complete the full Masters qualification via a research project you should regard this module as essential unless you have prior appropriate training.
Leading and Managing in Medical Education
Is the module designed to help establish your career trajectory and skills. For those in or intending to be in lead educational roles such as programme lead, training programme director, foundation tutor or similar this module covers a broad range of learning outcomes to ensure firm foundations. Exploring leadership style and theory you will hear from educational leaders in the university and the local education providers.
Technology Enhanced Learning
Is a unique opportunity to learn more about Technology Enhanced Learning. A module which is likely to under continual redevelopment itself to ensure the participant is comfortable with innovation in technology and online teaching as well as established methods such as MOOCs, screencasts, flipped classrooms, shared space, e-portfolios and effective online presentation skills.
