I chose to study at the University of Sunderland because the expertise of the faculty aligned with my interests and areas of academia I wished to pursue. I wanted to further my knowledge and expertise around English as a subject before heading into teaching. I was working full-time prior to returning to academia.

The best aspects of the course include the debates in lectures and the opportunity to research ideas that you’re passionate about. I recommend anyone wanting to study MA English Studies to have a plan, do your research, develop a strong work ethic and most importantly, believe in your ability.

Since graduation, I have been accepted onto the PhD programme at Sunderland and aim to teach after graduation. My experience at the University of Sunderland has been inspirational and life-changing."
