Course summary

If you want a career in business or finance, the BA (Hons) Business and Financial Management degree will give you the knowledge and experience to succeed. You'll learn how financial management supports long-term business success, focusing on key areas such as accounting, cash flow management, sustainability, and informed decision-making.

From the start, you will apply your learning to real business situations through case studies, simulations, and industry-linked modules. You will build critical thinking skills and get hands-on experience with digital tools, including optional specialist courses with Sage Group PLC.

The course is shaped with advice from employers such as Nissan, the NHS, Network Rail, and Enterprise Rent-A-Car, so what you study is practical and boosts your employability. Modules cover topics like sustainability, leadership, and digital technology in business.

You can join the Business Society to attend events, company visits, and guest lectures from leaders like the CEOs of Castrol, Global Blackswan, and ONYX. These experiences give you insight into real careers and help you start building your professional network.

You can also take an optional paid placement year between your second and final year. Most students earn around £14,000–£18,000 and many secure graduate jobs with their placement employer.

How you'll learn

This course combines hands-on learning with knowledge about the role and impact of managers and leaders in today’s changing business world. You'll develop creative, innovative, and entrepreneurial skills through real work experiences.

Experiential learning includes live projects, placements, workplace shadowing, and panel presentations. You'll also learn by doing and reflecting, including problem-based learning where small teams explore issues and decide how to handle situations. This helps you analyse, question, and debate business challenges.

Other learning methods include company visits, guest speakers, and modern e-learning tools, alongside lectures, seminars, debates, tutorials, and workshops.

Assessments are varied and practical. You'll complete narrative reports, e-portfolios, consultancy projects, case studies, reflective statements, audio journals, posters, digital storyboards, blogs, podcasts, and even YouTube videos.

Our typical offer is 96-112 UCAS Tariff points, from a combination of acceptable Level 3 qualifications which may include: A Levels, T Levels, BTEC Diplomas/Extended Diplomas, Scottish and Irish Highers, Access to HE Diplomas, or the International Baccalaureate.

We accept a maximum of six points from Level 3 Key Skills qualifications

You also need three passes at GCSE grade C or above. This must include maths and English language, or a minimum of Level 2 Key Skills in Communication and Application of Number. If you've studied for a GCSE which has a numerical grade, you'll need to achieve a grade 4 or above.

Fees and finance support

Undergraduate fees are set according to rules from Government in line with forecast inflation. If you're a Home fee-paying student, the fee for your first year of study for 2026/27 will be £9,790. You'll pay tuition fees for every year of study. Fees may increase every year based on the Retail Price Index.
