Integrated Foundation Year

This course is available with an Integrated Foundation Year, an extra year of your degree. This route offers a supportive way of transitioning into university study. It may be suitable for you if you:

Accreditations and approvals

What you'll study

Many of our courses include a range of modules you can choose from. Some options may only be available if you’ve already studied specific modules. If you’re not sure what you need before picking a module, your course leader can help.

Undergraduate module credits should total 120 credits per academic year. If optional modules are available, choose an amount that totals 120 credits.

How you'll learn

Teaching methods include lectures, seminars, study visits, and group work. These are supported by a range of guest speakers from diverse academic and industry backgrounds. Our teaching team are passionate about their subject and produce world-leading research.

Your progress will be assessed by essays, presentations, portfolios of evidence, and project work, which will help you build a range of skills in support of employability.

Entry requirements

Our typical offer is 88-104 UCAS Tariff points, from a combination of acceptable Level 3 qualifications which may include: A Levels, T Levels, BTEC Diplomas/Extended Diplomas, Scottish and Irish Highers, Access to HE Diplomas, or the International Baccalaureate.

We accept a maximum of 6 points from Level 3 Key Skills qualifications.

You also need three passes at GCSE grade C or above. This must include maths and English language, or a minimum of Level 2 Key Skills in Communication and Application of Number. If you've studied for a GCSE which has a numerical grade, you'll need to achieve a grade 4 or above.

Accreditation of Prior Learning (APL)

If you feel you already know some of the topics covered in this course, either due to previous learning or from work experience, you may not need to study all of the course. Accreditation of Prior Learning (APL) is the name given to the process of gaining credit towards a qualification because of something you've learnt in the past. If you're eligible for APL, you won't have to learn the same topic again, so you can be exempt from a module, set of modules, or year of a course. If you think you may be eligible for APL, please contact the course leader.

Integrated Foundation Year

Entry requirements are for guidance only. We may offer you an entrance interview to help us determine eligibility for your degree.

Eligible entry qualifications:

Normally a minimum of three Level 2 qualifications (NVQ, GCSE, or equivalent). This must include maths and English language at grade C or above. We also require a minimum of 40 UCAS Tariff points. These must be from Level 3 qualifications (e.g. A or AS Levels, T Levels, BTEC certificates/diplomas, access courses, or equivalent) OR
Demonstrable evidence of appropriate knowledge and skills. This should be from at least three years of post-school work experience.

Fees and finance support

UK£9,790

Undergraduate fees are set according to rules from Government in line with forecast inflation. If you're a Home fee-paying student, the fee for your first year of study for 2026/27 will be £9,790. You'll pay tuition fees for every year of study. Fees may increase every year based on the Retail Price Index.
