Honorary Graduates

Every year the University celebrates the achievements of graduates and prominent local and international people who have made a significant contribution to cultural, business or economic life.

Honorary graduates in 2015 included Professor Peter Fidler CBE, Katy McLean MBE, Anne Reid MBE, Dr Eric Kuan and Sue Sharpe.

Honorary graduates from previous years include: Kevin Phillips, Ann Cleeves, Jimmy Montgomery, TV and Radio Presenter Lauren Laverne, former Dire Straits frontman Mark Knopfler, Actors Wendy Craig and Alun Armstrong, Sir Tim Rice, Hollywood Film Director Alan Parker, Opera Diva Dame Kiri Te Kanawa, Lord Robert Winston, North East born Notting Hill Actor Gina McKee, Footballer Niall Quinn, Broadcaster Lord Melvyn Bragg, Horrible Histories Author Terry Deary and racing legend Sir Stirling Moss.
