Roles and responsibilities

Led by the Vice-Chancellor and Chief Executive, the Executive:

  • Leads the implementation of the University’s strategic plan, building upon existing strengths to achieve further success;
  • Works with the Board of Governors to articulate a clear and shared sense of purpose and future direction for the University;
  • Provides effective, values-driven leadership, promoting a sense of shared community and a culture of equality, diversity, ambition and achievement;
  • Maintains and enhances the academic performance of the University;
  • Ensures the delivery of high-quality teaching and an outstanding student experience;
  • Creates an environment that supports research and knowledge creation and exchange, which, in turn, has a positive impact on individuals, organisations and communities;
  • Grows and enhances the University’s international reputation through its portfolio of transnational education pathway partners and institutions across the world;
  • Ensures a strong financial position and timely delivery against objectives, including the maintenance and development of the University’s infrastructure and estate;
  • Develops the University’s role as a regional anchor institution, positively impacting society and the economy through collaboration with the public and private sectors; and
  • Ensures that the University has the resilience and adaptability to influence and respond to social, economic and sector changes.
