Research
My PhD (University of Sunderland, 2025) explored how TQM principles can be made
crisis-responsive in the Jordanian aviation sector. Using an interpretivist qualitative case study with semi-structured interviews, non-participant observation, and document analysis, the study identified how crisis pressure can push organisations toward top-down decision-making, communication gaps, and training shortfalls undermining TQM’s participative ethos and affecting employee well-being. It highlights the value of ‘soft’ TQM elements (inclusive leadership, transparent feedback loops, and psychological support) alongside technical controls to sustain continuity and morale in disruption. The project proposes a Crisis-Responsive TQM (CRTQM) model and practical recommendations for airlines and regulators. I continue this work through projects on leadership, safety culture and resilience, and I’m keen to collaborate with industry and doctoral researchers on crisis-aware quality management in aviation.
