Technical Support Team Manager (Glass and Ceramics)

I studied Glass and Ceramics at Sunderland graduating in 1986 when I was offered a role as a technician in the department. I became a Senior Glass Technician in 1992 responsible for the maintenance and upkeep of the University's four glass furnaces. Since 1998, the department is now based at National Glass Centre (NGC) where I'm responsible for the layout and the technical infrastructure of our workshops including equipment such as the water jet cutter.

I've worked with visiting artists at NGC such as Zotorski and Zotorski (producing a six-foot glass ladder) and David Ward, all artists in residence at Durham Cathedral.

I work closely with the Glass Centre Studio Manager assisting in the production of commissioned glasswork, mainly fused glass but also cast glass work.
