My current research involves energy and machining strategies.



Teaching and supervision

I teach the Quality Systems module. I am module leader for quality on the Engineering Degree Apprenticeship Programme.

  • Productivity, quality and maintenance: energy usage
  • Hydrogen as a co-fuel for ICE

Research

  • Principle investigator on FCH-JU funded Hyacinth project examining Social Acceptance Issues for Hydrogen and Fuel Cell Technologies

Current projects include:
  • NOx reduction in hydrogen co-fuelled ICEs
  • Energy usage in novel machining strategies
  • Using energy consumption/signatures as an indicator of equipment condition.

  • FMEA
  • QFD
  • Taguchi Methods of Robust Engineering
  • Line Balancing


I am a member of the ERDF project Sustainable Advanced Manufacturing (SAM) working with numerous SMEs to improve their productivity and efficiency through the application of advanced technology.

I support a number of clients with product design, reverse engineering, test, measurement and validation, rapid prototyping.
