Senior Technician Digital Media (Journalism)
My role at the University encompasses many disciplines. After a brief career in journalism, I joined the technical team at the University over 15 years ago initially specialising in supporting students with page design and sub-editing techniques as well as digital photography. As the industry began to turn more web content focused, I also began assisting students with video content creation, digital effects, web design, social media, podcasts, content delivery, and live streaming to the web.
I've also consulted on outside broadcast setups and have extensive experience with TV and radio studios.
Some of my interests include writing (both fiction and non-fiction), photography, playing the bass guitar, music creation, video game design, and designing bespoke board games.
I offer in-depth support on a large variety of digital production software, most notably the Adobe creative cloud suite, as well as hands-on instruction of much of the hardware and cameras based in the Media Centre.
