Senior Lecturer – MSc Advanced Clinical Practitioner

I am a Senior Lecturer with the MSc Advanced Clinical Practitioner apprentice team in the Faculty of Health and Wellbeing.

I am a registered member of the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) and hold qualifications in adult nursing and non-medical prescribing.

I have worked in a variety of clinical settings with the majority of my roles being in addictions and hepatology. Before joining the University of Sunderland in 2022, I worked as a team manager, non-medical prescriber, and clinical lead in a large multi-agency addictions service with a high level of responsibility and leadership in a complex healthcare environment.

Teaching and supervision

I teach MSc Advanced Clinical Practitioner Apprenticeship supporting our apprentice advanced clinical practitioners to develop the knowledge, skills, and behaviours commensurate with advanced clinical practice. I lead modules in:

  • Advanced Clinical Management of Chronic Disease
  • Advanced Adult Clinical Management Skills
  • Advanced Medicines Management for Advanced Clinical Practice

I co-host a podcast with my colleague, The Shop Floor. The podcast explores topics related to the development of trainee ACPs and advanced clinical practice in general.
