Programme Leader for BSc (Hons) Nursing (Top-Up)

I have worked as a nurse in healthcare for over 28 years in many areas including: acute and rehabilitation care in hospital, stroke research, clinical authoring, practice nursing, and most recently as a Parkinson's Nurse Specialist Adviser and Education Adviser for Parkinson's UK.

I also continue to work with Parkinson's UK as a reviewer, and as an Education Adviser.

My main clinical focus is the support and management of people with Parkinson's, the older person, and people with dementia (and their families and support networks).

I am also a freelance author and have contributed to many nursing journals as both a writer and peer reviewer.

Teaching and supervision

I am the Programme Leader for BSc (Hons) Nursing (Top-Up), on campus, under the management of the Team Lead Karen Giles. I am involved in the strategic development, daily management and quality review of this course.

I was previously the Academic Lead Nurse and module lead for several short, post registration CPD/CWD courses for nurses and allied health professionals, such as stroke management, CPD accreditation, and communication.

Research interests for potential research students

My interests lie in supporting people with Parkinson's and people with dementia, including their carers, family and support networks.
