Technician (Performing Arts)

I am Lighting and Sound Technician. I've been at the University for twelve years and have worked in the industry for over fifteen. I continue to work professionally at various live music venues around the North East.

I specialise in the technologies that go into live events. Specifically, I work lighting, sound and other multimedia to help students realise their ideas for a performance. We regularly work in places that are not traditional performance spaces. Over the years we have developed the skill of turning these spaces into interesting and usable areas, through often complex logistics and real life working experience.

I also work closely with students on recording and video editing to create content that goes into their performance assessments.

Teaching and supervision

I supervise lighting and sound editing/recording workshops to help students learn about what goes into shows beyond performing.
