Senior Lecturer in Counselling

I am a registered and accredited member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy. I've lectured across various counselling courses since joining the University in 2008.

Teaching and supervision

Programme Leader for BSc (Hons) Psychology with Counselling.

I am Module Leader for:
  • CNS103 Introduction to Theories and Concepts in Counselling (BSc. Psychology with Counselling)
  • CNS206 Foundations of Embedded Listening and Counselling Skills (BSc. Psychology with Counselling)
  • CNS308 The Therapeutic Relationship (BA Counselling top-up)
  • CNS309 Research and Evidence in Counselling (BA Counselling top-up)

I'm also a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.

Research interests for potential research students

  • Bereavement counselling
  • Men's experiences of counselling and attitudes towards it 
  • Counselling provision in university and primary care settings
  • Counselling as an embedded skill

Research

I have research interests in bereavement counselling and men's experiences of counselling.
I am a BACP registered and accredited counselling practitioner with nearly 20 years' experience as a practitioner in range of settings including university services and primary care.
