Senior Lecturer
I have worked in health, social care and education for 17 years. Prior to becoming a social worker, I worked in a range of health and social care settings including inpatient and community mental health settings, and early intervention services. Working with young people who had disengaged from education sparked my interest in social work and led me to study to become a qualified social worker.
I worked as a children and families social worker for a number of years before coming into Higher Education. During this time I enjoyed working with student social workers and made the decision to take a side step into education seven years ago.
Teaching and supervision
I am module leader for:
- Level 5: Working with Children, Young People and Families
- Level 6: Research Methods for Social Work, Dissertation
- Dissertation Supervisor on BA (Hons) Social Work
Research interests for potential research students
I am especially interested in any research related to child protection. My own personal interests centre around the assessment of risk, work with families, pre-birth assessments, the perception of child protection social workers, and resilience in social work.
