Senior Lecturer

I have worked in health, social care and education for 17 years. Prior to becoming a social worker, I worked in a range of health and social care settings including inpatient and community mental health settings, and early intervention services. Working with young people who had disengaged from education sparked my interest in social work and led me to study to become a qualified social worker.

Before moving into higher education, I worked as a child and family social worker.

Teaching and supervision

I am module leader for:

  • Level 4: Preparing for Social Work Practice
  • Level 5: Working with Children, Young People and Families
  • Level 6: Research Methods for Social Work, Dissertation
  • Dissertation Supervisor on BA (Hons) Social Work

Research interests for potential research students

I am especially interested in any research related to child protection. My own personal interests are around the assessment of risk, work with families, pre-birth assessments, the perception of child protection social workers, and social work education.
