Lecturer in Community and Youth Work

I teach BA Community and Youth Work Studies, MA Childhood and Youth Studies, and Social Work. I am a placement supervisor and an academic tutor which entails supporting and supervising students while on practice placement and through their university journey, both roles which I thoroughly enjoy.

I am an experienced Community and Youth Work practitioner having worked in both public and voluntary youth work sectors, in management and face-to-face roles. I especially enjoy working with young people and continue to do so in a voluntary capacity for a charitable youth work organisation.

Research interests for potential research students

My areas of interest are linked to the values and principles underpinning the informal educative process of traditional youth work, young people’s agency and autonomy, youth cultures, community action and social justice, participatory action research, and creative research methods.
