Lecturer in Primary Education

I recently joined the School of Education and Society as a lecturer across a range of Primary Education courses. Prior to this, I had 24 years experience of teaching across a range of first and primary schools in South-East Northumberland, including a year seconded to the Local Authority as a Literacy Lead teacher and most recently 10 years as a Primary Head Teacher.

I believe my experiences across a variety of roles within schools offer me the insight to support trainees in their journey to becoming successful teachers. I have mentored and coached many trainees and NQTs as a mentor and school leader to ensure they receive the best support and challenge in order to improve their own learning and teaching as they establish themselves within the classroom.

I lead the on the second year placement on BA (Hons) Primary Education, supporting students and mentors during the placements in schools. My role also allows me to support students on the other school placements, including those completing PGCE, School Direct and PGCE IDL.
