I am a Senior Lecturer in Education and have been teaching in higher education for 13 years. Prior to joining the University of Sunderland, I taught key and basic skills in Further Education for 7 years.
During my career, I have also led projects for curriculum development towards re-engaging young people at risk of dropping out of education, workforce development and CPD for education and teaching staff. This has given me a good understanding across all phases of the education system and I enjoy exploring contemporary issues in education philosophically, psychologically, politically, and sociologically.
I am currently studying for my PhD in Education, exploring moral education within Higher Education. The methodology I have adopted is auto-ethnography. Other areas of interest for research is critical thinking, philosophy for children programme (P4C) and Teacher Education.
I have supervised dissertations in areas such as British Values, Critical Thinking, Gender in Dance Education, the role of Apprenticeships, Creative teaching in Prison Education, Observations of Teaching and Learning and the role of Ofsted.
