Senior Lecturer in Education

I taught for 15 years in secondary schools before arriving at the University and have held both pastoral and subject specific posts. In addition to my work as a teacher and lecturer, I have been an examiner for KS3, GCSE and A level Mathematics.

Teaching and supervision

I currently teach on BSc Mathematics Education, the BSc STEM Education with QTS, BSc (Hon) Physical Education with QTS and BA Education Studies.

I am Module Leader for:

  • Advancing Subject Knowledge and Pedagogy (Mathematics)

Research interests for potential research students

I usually supervise dissertation students with mathematics related themes such as maths anxiety, dyscalculia and girls in STEM subjects.

Research

I am interested in mathematics education and the particular issues that arise for women in STEM subjects and learners with SEND. I am passionate about tackling maths anxiety in learners of all ages.
