Academic Tutor

I am currently Executive Headteacher of two maintained nursery schools in Sunderland. I have a strong drive and passion for Early Years which has continued to develop since I qualified as a teacher.

I have been fortunate enough to have numerous roles all of which have been both varied and interesting – starting as class teacher, then becoming an Early Years Advisory Teacher for the Local Authority, followed by an Advanced Skills teacher, a SENDCO, gaining my NPQH and most recently an associate school improvement adviser.

I have taken every opportunity to extend my own learning, and will continue to do so.

These varying roles have allowed me to; support and advise colleagues and practitioners in relation to their own settings, develop Early Years pedagogy and practice within various settings, and coach and mentor practitioners and students. All of these things have ultimately enabled me to develop and fine tune my own personal pedagogy and philosophy of education.

I have a relentless drive to achieve excellence and continue to be fully committed to raising standards for the children and their families of my schools. However I am really looking forward to supporting trainees as they embark on a new journey of becoming teachers. I have also taken part in distance learning and know how important it is to have people who you can get in touch with and ask for advice or support.
