  1. What are your entry requirements?

    Entry requirements differ between courses. You’ll find entry requirements for each course on its course page, but there may be other options available.

  2. I already have a degree - can I study another one?

    If you already have a degree and want to study a course which is at an equivalent or lower level, you’d be classed as having Equivalent or Lower Qualifications...

  3. I started my course at another university but now want to study at Sunderland - can I transfer?

    Find out whether it is possible to transfer to the University of Sunderland if you have already started a course at another University.

  4. What English language qualifications do you accept?

    We accept a wide range of English language qualifications. The standard of English language required varies between courses so please check each course page carefully.

  5. I’m a mature student - what is the entry criteria for a mature student?

    All students, including mature students, must meet the entry requirements for their course...

  6. I don’t know how many UCAS points my qualifications have – can you help?

    We accept UCAS points from all qualifications on the UCAS Tariff. Please contact our Student Administration Team if you’re unsure of how many UCAS points you have.

  7. I studied outside the UK – how many UCAS points do I have?

    If you studied outside of the UK and are unsure of how many UCAS points you have, you can contact our Student Administration Team who will be happy to help.

  8. I studied my level three qualifications a while ago – are they still valid?

    Find out whether your level three qualifications are still valid.

  9. I don’t have GCSEs – can I study these alongside my course?

    No – you must meet the GCSE requirements of your course before you can enrol.

  10. I have a BTEC National Diploma, can I apply to study at the university?

    Yes, we accept both BTEC National Diplomas and Certificates as long as you receive 112 UCAS points from your qualification.

  11. I have completed an Access Course, can I apply to study at the university?

    We will require successful completion of an Access to Higher Education course that is accredited by the Quality Assurance Agency...

  12. I’m from Scotland and took the Scottish Highers, can I apply to study at the university?

    Our typical offer is for 112 UCAS points from Scottish Higher qualifications.

  13. I’m from Ireland and received an Irish Leaving Certificate, can I apply to study at the University?

    Find out what our typical offer is if you have an Irish Leaving Certificate.

  14. I’m an international student, will my qualification allow me to study at the university?

    If you're unsure whether your qualification will be accepted, you can contact our Student Helpline for further information.

  15. My qualification isn’t listed here, am I still eligible?

    You might still be eligible to apply for a course even though your qualification is not listed. Contact the Student Helpline for further information.

  16. I know some of the topics covered in my course, do I still need to study all of it?

    If you feel you already know some of the topics that are covered in your course, either due to previous learning or from experience of work...

  19. Do you accept T levels?

    The University of Sunderland welcomes the new T level qualification and will consider it for entry onto our courses.
