Sunderland students will experience the culture and learning of London

The Student Mobility Programme will welcome students from Nursing, Business, Tourism, Art, Design & Creative Industries to enjoy guest lectures at our Canary Wharf site, and get a taste of the business and cultural life of London.

Ruth Wilson, Head of Services for Students and Marketing in London, says: “I am very excited to host Sunderland students here in London. Five years ago when we opened here we wanted to give our students the opportunity to move between sites, and spend time in both of our wonderful cities.”

Sunderland pre-reg Nursing students will visit hospitals in the capital and will share guest lectures with nursing students in London. Students from Sunderland and London will take part in a two week IELTS 7 preparation course to improve their employability.

Business, Tourism and Art, Design & Creative industries students will take part in a number of company visits, take in galleries and tourist sites and enjoy guest lectures.

Members of the University of Sunderland in London Travel and Tourism Society are hosting walking tours across Greenwich and Canary Wharf.

Leteechia Rungasamy, President of the Travel and Tourism Society, who is studying for her MSc Tourism and Hospitality in London, says: “We are really looking forward to meeting our fellow students from Sunderland. We know they will have a fantastic time - London is such an exciting city to be in!”

The Vice-Chancellor Shirley Atkinson, added: “I’m very pleased to see our Sunderland students experience the cultural, teaching and learning opportunities we offer at University of Sunderland in London. I’m sure our students and staff will make them feel very welcome, and I hope this further enhances their employability and their experience of university life.”
