The announcement from Pearson - the examination board - that BTEC results are being delayed will be greatly frustrating to students. The University of Sunderland understands and wants to be as helpful as possible.

The University will honour all offers confirmed since the initial results were issued to around half of BTEC students last week. In addition, we will re-evaluate candidates who may find their grades are higher when the confirmed results are released. The examination board has been clear that no grades will be lowered during the delay.

The University has already adopted a very flexible approach to candidates caught up in the confusion around examination results. That will continue to be the case in the days and weeks ahead.

We advise applicants who have questions about their eligibility as a result of the BTEC delay to contact us on our Helpline  0191 515 3000 or for more information visit www.sunderland.ac.uk/clearing/

Our Helpline staff will be here until 5pm today, Thursday. They will also be back tomorrow between 9am and 5pm
