Course summary

The PgCert/PgDip in Human Resource Management are designed to give you the essential knowledge and skills in people management and learning and development. These qualifications also provide a route to professional membership of the CIPD.

You'll focus on developing problem-solving skills and applying theory to real-world business challenges. This includes visits to UK companies and learning from guest speakers who share their practical HR experience.

Our HR practitioners work closely with academic staff to deliver events and workshops, helping you prepare to join the professional HR community. The networks you build during your studies will be invaluable as you graduate and progress into a senior career in human resource management.

What you'll study

Postgraduate Certificate (60 credits)

How you'll learn

You can achieve the PgCert (60 credits) or PgDip (120 credits) in Human Resource Management, with the option to progress to a full MSc HRM (180 credits).

All modules are delivered at postgraduate level (Level 7). Throughout the course, you'll develop self-awareness and understand your strengths and areas for improvement as a manager and colleague.

You'll build essential skills for successful management and leadership, including decision-making, financial management, teamwork, interpersonal skills, and personal effectiveness in the workplace.

The course also focuses on postgraduate study and research skills, encouraging critical reflection on theory and practice from an ethical and professional perspective.

Two dedicated skills development weeks further enhance your learning within each module. You'll be guided to reflect on your professional development, helping you establish a strong foundation for a successful career in human resources and people development.

Your progress is assessed through a variety of methods, including individual and group assignments, business reports, presentations, case studies, portfolios, timed activities, and project work.
