I was working as a pharmacy technician but did not find this challenging enough and wanted to be involved in the clinical decision-making for patient care. As such I knew I would have to study further and get a degree in pharmacy to achieve this. I chose to study the MPharm course at Sunderland because I loved the diversity and the fact the course has been established for almost 100 years.
It is an integrated course where we are able to connect the dots between chemistry, biology, pharmacology and pharmaceutical sciences. This helps us to understand the rationale when it comes to pharmacy practice. There are plenty of case studies where you are taught how to apply all of the theories you learn into practice.
I would tell other students to come to Sunderland because you will feel at home here. Be enthusiastic and passionate about the course, as this will make your study journey easier. For me, studying the MPharm at Sunderland has been challenging but worth the sacrifices.
Pharmacy careers are diverse and currently I am looking forward to working in a community pharmacy where I hope to expand pharmacy services to the wider population.”
