Kyrone James, Animation and Games Art student

Robson Art and Design Scholarship

This £1,000 cash scholarship is for full-time, home students studying Art and Design courses.

Animation and Games Art student Kyrone James used the funding to build a computer and purchase software to draw digital illustrations. Using new techniques within the software, Kyrone was able to develop his digital art style and learn new techniques. He says, "I believe in my future as I now have a fully built computer which I can use to complete commissions and work on animations using the software. I’m still working towards my goal of becoming an animator and can continue to add to my skills.”

Katie Stewart, Fine Art student

The Robson Art and Design Masters Award

This £1,000 cash scholarship supports students studying MA Design or MA Visual Practice.

MA Fine Art student Katie Stewart received the award at the beginning of her studies. She says, “The award has allowed me to improve my practice hugely, through purchasing specialised and expensive adhesive, as well as buying my own professional camera. These are both very beneficial towards important aspects of my studies, as a lot of my work entails collage. Owning a camera that can produce high-definition images will also be incredibly useful for my professional practice once I graduate. I was also able to purchase a travel ticket for Tyne and Wear, saving on the cost of commuting on public transport.”
