Overview

The South Asia Tuition Fee Waiver is a waiver discount available to eligible applicants who are nationals of and live in specific countries in the South Asia region who are applying to study with us at the University of Sunderland. These countries are:

A £3,000 fee waiver is awarded to eligible international students from South Asia. This will be automatically applied to all semester 1 and semester 2 applicants from the above list of countries, subject to availability.

Who is eligible?

In order to be eligible for the South Asia Scholarship, applicants must meet the following criteria:

If you do not meet the above criteria ahead of courses commencing in Semester 1 and Semester 2, you will not be eligible to receive this scholarship.

Furthermore, if you defer from Semester 2 of the 24/25 academic year, there is no guarantee that this opportunity will be available in Semester 1 of the 25/26 academic year.

The South Asia Scholarship Tuition Fee Waiver is not guaranteed, and you must be able to fund your course and associated costs without receipt of the South Asia Scholarship Tuition Fee Waiver.

You should consider the University of Sunderland Fees Policy prior to applying and specific attention is drawn to international student deposits and refunds.

How to apply

This is allocated by the University’s Admission team, with no separate application required for the fee waiver. Upon receiving your offer from the university, you will see that the South Asia Scholarship Tuition Fee Waiver will have bee automatically awarded.

Terms and conditions

1. Applicants must meet the UKVI maintenance requirements. For further details on these requirements please refer to Maintenance and accommodation (entry clearance guidance) on the gov.uk website.

2. The University makes the final decision on the recipient of the South Asia Scholarship Tuition Fee Waiver.

3. In the event that a student does not register on their programme by the required date or defers their admission to a later intake, they will no longer be eligible for the South Asia Scholarship Fee Waiver.

4 For the avoidance of doubt all students are subject to the University standard terms and conditions which will be highlighted to you on a number of occasions throughout the application and enrolment process.

5. The South Asia Scholarship Tuition Fee Waiver is not transferable.

6. The applicant is responsible for ensuring that the discount is reflected in the offer letter and subsequently the CAS letter. The University is not responsible for issuing a refund for the amount of the South Asia Scholarship Tuition Fee Waiver, if the discount is not reflected in the offer letter and/or CAS letter.

7. Where a student is required to pay for repeat modules to progress on to the next year of their course, no scholarship will be awarded to cover the cost of the repeated modules. In cases where a student must repeat a full year of study, they will not be entitled to the scholarship during this period of repeat study.

8. Should a student take a leave of absence during their studies, full tuition fees will still be due. The scholarship should have been applied during the year you took your leave of absence.

9. Students who receive the scholarship are not entitled to receive the Alumni Discount.

These terms and conditions will be read in conjunction with and in addition to the University standard terms and conditions of enrolment which, in the event of a conflict between these terms and conditions and the University standard terms and conditions, it will be the University standard terms and conditions which apply.

The University’s decision as to awarding the Scholarship is final on the application of these terms and conditions and the eligibility criteria. The University will not be deemed to be in breach of any legal or contractual obligations due to changes to eligibility criteria beyond the reasonable control of the University.
