Course summary

If you've already completed a foundation degree, HND, or equivalent qualification in a relevant subject, the BA (Hons) Accounting and Finance (Top-Up) course allows you to earn a full undergraduate degree.

You’ll build on your existing knowledge with advanced modules in accounting, financial management, and business strategy, designed to help you think critically and apply your skills in real-world situations. You'll also explore wider business topics, such as leadership, contemporary developments, and how organisations operate in a global context.

What you learn is directly relevant to real businesses, from small start-ups to global companies, and your degree can open doors to roles in accounting, finance, banking, business analysis, and more. Our graduates have gone on to work with top employers including Microsoft, IBM, P&G, Lloyds Bank, Nike, Adidas, Marriott Hotels, Starbucks, and the NHS.

Alongside your studies, you’ll benefit from the University’s MAPS (Making Achievement Possible at Sunderland) programme, which supports your study skills, career planning, and personal development. You’ll also be supported by a dedicated team of Student Academic Advisors. You’ll also have the chance to get involved in student-led initiatives through the Business Society(opens in new tab), where you can take part in professional networking events, hear from guest speakers, and visit companies to see business in action.

Whether you're looking to move into accounting, boost your credentials, or step into management, this top-up degree gives you the academic and practical foundation to grow your career.
