Course summary

If you're aiming for a career in business or finance, the BA (Hons) Business and Financial Management degree will give you the practical knowledge and experience to succeed in today’s fast paced business world. You’ll explore how financial management underpins long-term business success, focusing on key areas like accounting, cash flow, sustainability, and decision making.

From day one, you'll apply what you learn to real business scenarios through case studies, simulations, and industry linked modules. You’ll develop critical thinking and gain hands-on experience with digital tools, including optional specialist financial courses with Sage Group PLC, preparing you for the digital-first workplace.

Our curriculum is shaped with input from employers such as Nissan, the NHS, Network Rail, and Enterprise Rent-A-Car, so everything you study is relevant, practical, and designed to boost your employability. Every module connects directly to industry, covering topics like sustainability, leadership, and the role of digital technology in modern business.

You’ll also be part of a vibrant community. Join the Business Society(opens in new tab) to attend events, company tours, and guest lectures from inspiring leaders such as the CEOs of Castrol, Global Blackswan, and ONYX. These experiences give you direct insight into the roles you could be stepping into after graduation and help you start building your professional network.

You can choose to take an optional paid placement year, giving you valuable workplace experience between your second and final year. Most students earn around £14,000–£18,000 during their placement, and many go on to secure graduate roles with their placement employer.

Whether you're looking to start your own business, work in finance, or move into leadership, this course is designed to help you graduate with the skills, confidence, and experience employers are looking for.

Integrated Foundation Year

This course is also available with an Integrated Foundation Year. The Integrated Foundation Year is an extra year before starting your three-year undergraduate degree, designed to build your study skills and subject knowledge so you feel ready to succeed.

If you've narrowly missed the entry requirements for the standard three-year route, or have relevant work experience and want to broaden your subject knowledge and study skills before starting your degree, completing an Integrated Foundation Year could be for you. Please note, this route isn't available to international students.
