Programme Leader PGCE Education (IDL)
My background is in UK secondary education (ages 11-18). I initially re-trained as an English teacher after I left the British Army. I have held senior management positions in schools and have had the opportunity to teach both in the UK and internationally.
During my time in secondary education, I mentored trainee teachers across both primary and secondary schools and this was the beginning of my involvement in Initial Teacher Training. I also worked as an examiner for several specifications and covered both GCSE and A Level.
I have taught on the campus ITT PGCE as the Programme Leader for English trainees and I am now part of the IDL team. I am the Programme Leader for the February 2021 PGCE Education (IDL) and Module leader for EDP381 Subject Studies module that is an integral part of the PGCE Education programme. In addition to this, I am also an assessor for the Assessment Only Route (AOR) and a supervisor for undergraduate dissertation and MA thesis supervision.
I have just started my professional doctorate and I am planning my research around the use of feedback and student perception in distance learning.

I teach on PGCE Education IDL and I am an assessor on AOR.
Research interests for potential research students
I am part of the International Distance Learning practitioners to develop the use of Video-Enhanced Dialogic Assessment (VEDA) in teacher education that is overseen by Dr. Elizabeth Hidson. We have been awarded one of four fellowship grants for the academic year 2020-2021.
