‘Knowledge, Skills and Professional Attributes: A challenge for flexibility in learning of engineering HE provision’ by Dave Knapton

The session investigated the interrelation of skills, knowledge and professional attributes in engineering curricula for accredited courses. Dave's work reflects on the diversity of the educational pipeline for institutions who actively encourage widening participation and identifies some of the associated challenges. Some considerations were also presented which will enable the HE sector to meet employers needs.


‘The development of a maintenance gap analysis tool for use within the automotive supply chain: A case study perspective’ by Derek Dixon

This presentation introduced doctoral research identifying inhibitors which prevent effective maintenance management in the automotive supply chain. Furthermore, the discussion reviewed the impact of cultural artefacts on working relationships.

‘Development of graphene-based materials from printing inks and coatings to structural composites’ by Dr Panagiotis Karagiannidis

Dr Karagiannidis discussed past and ongoing research work on the development of graphene-based nanocomposites, targeting a wide range of commercial applications including automotive, energy, electronics, construction and military.
The research that was presented is a result of national and international collaborations of Dr Karagiannidis and his research group with other Universities and the Industry.
