How do I contact the First Choice Team?
You can continue to contact us via our First Choice email address email@example.com, or through our Facebook group. We also have a First Choice mobile phone number in operation: 07557849725. As always, we are available to offer to support on all University matters, not just queries regarding our First Choice progression scheme.
I have just signed up to the scheme, will the rest of the skills sessions be going ahead this academic year?
Yes the scheme is going ahead. We are currently working on some digital alternatives to the school and college visits we had booked in over the next couple of months. We will contact colleges and schools, and our First Choice participants and members when we have more information on this.
I have completed all compulsory elements of the First Choice Progression Scheme, will I still receive the benefits now?
Yes. We are in constant contact with our Student Admin team about the process of making offers to Year 13 students during these unprecedented times. All Year 13 First Choice members who have made an application to the University of Sunderland will receive the promised benefits of the scheme, subject to their course being eligible. Here is a reminder of the terms and conditions surrounding eligible courses. Please do not hesitate to contact the First Choice team should you have queries regarding your application.
The First Choice progression scheme is a two-year programme of activities provided by the University of Sunderland. These activities aim to give you an insight into studying at the University of Sunderland and will help you develop skills necessary to succeed in higher education, while having fun at the same time!
The scheme runs across two years with pupils first being identified and signing up in Year 12 with completion in Year 13. Across the two years pupils will undertake a variety of activities both in school and on our university campus. Sessions will focus on what it's like to study at university, the application process as well as graduate and employability skills.
All fully registered First Choice participants are invited to our Year 12 Summer School to explore university life and find out what Sunderland has to offer. Students will take part in academic and skills sessions, as well as social activities, on our University campus and around the city.
