Beyond a degree

A law degree is a highly transferable qualification, and employers know its value. It equips you with skills that go far beyond the courtroom. We incorporate real-world experience throughout the course. You'll build strengths in critical thinking, problem-solving, communication, and research.

You’ll study at the Sir Tom Cowie Campus at St Peter’s, a modern riverside setting that's just a short walk from the city centre.

Facilities

As a law student, you'll have exclusive access to specialist facilities, including:

Extracurricular opportunities

At every stage of your degree, you can take part in a wide range of extracurricular activities. These will support your learning and give you a clear sense of what your future career might look like.

You can join national and international field trips and enter high-profile competitions, such as client interviewing and mooting at the Supreme Court. These experiences will help you build practical skills that employers value.

Guest speakers allow you to listen to people who are already progressing in their legal careers. Examples of past speakers include graduates who are undertaking the Legal Practice course or the Bar Course, and those who have progressed to training contracts.

You'll also have the opportunity to join the Student Law Society, a vibrant, student-led group that runs social events, hosts guest speakers, and organises networking opportunities throughout the year. It’s a great way to meet other students and network with legal professionals.

Our undergraduate LLB course is a fantastic starting point if you’d like to pursue a career as a solicitor or barrister, and will help you develop your knowledge of the key foundations of the law before you specialise.

If you aim to become a fully qualified solicitor, our well-respected LLM Advanced Legal Practice refreshes your knowledge for SQE1 and helps prepare you for the skills assessments tested as part of SQE2.
