The marketing industry is exciting, fast-paced, and always evolving, and our courses have been designed to teach you the skills to get started in the sector. We've secured accreditation by the Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM), but what is a CIM accreditation and why does it matter?

Curriculum transformation
Over the last few years, our Business and Management courses have gone through a significant curriculum transformation. We’ve made the changes as a direct result of feedback from both our students and employers in the industry. One of the biggest changes has included a more significant focus on work-based learning and applying theory to real-world practice. Our students now lead on marketing projects, placements, and consultancies throughout their studies.
We also have the Sunderland Marketing Hub, which welcomes businesses, students, and academics to work together on real-life projects. The Marketing Hub offers a range of benefits for participants, including networking, mentoring, and guidance.
Why study a CIM accredited degree?
As part of our curriculum transformation, we’ve secured accreditation from The Chartered Institute of Marketing(opens in new tab) (CIM) for all our marketing degrees. This includes:
- BA (Hons) Business and Marketing Management
- MA Marketing (and Professional Practice)
- PgCert/PgDip Digital Marketing and Analytics.
As part of our accreditation, if you study one of our marketing courses, you'll also gain exemptions from professional CIM qualifications. You'll now only need to pass one module to complete the CIM Certificate in Professional Marketing or Professional Digital Marketing, or two modules to complete the CIM Diploma in Professional Marketing or Professional Digital Marketing. For those looking to enhance their marketing qualifications, this saves on time and financial cost.
We all know that the job market today is highly competitive, and graduates are always searching for new ways to make themselves and their CV stand out. A CIM accredited degree and a professional qualification are both impressive enhancements.
The Chartered Institute of Marketing is internationally recognised and respected, and institutions are required to meet rigorous standards before being granted accreditation. Our suite of marketing courses receiving the accreditation reflects the hard work we’ve put in to make sure our courses are modern, relevant and preparing students for industry. An extra bonus of the accreditation is that you'll gain access to exclusive webinars, available only to CIM members.
"Experiential learning opportunities for our students is a priority and this led to the development of the Marketing Hub, Marketing Matters series, and our extensive work with professional bodies such as the Chartered Institute of Marketing." Yvonne Dixon-Todd, Head of School of Business and Management.
