Applying for a Visa
The British Council is the UK's international organisation for educational opportunities and cultural relations. The British Council are able to offer advice on courses available in the UK and also have excellent libraries and stocks of prospectuses. They currently have offices in Lagos, Port Harcourt and Abuja.
Nigerian nationals need to apply for entry clearance (a visa) before travelling to the UK. The British High Commission in Abuja and Deputy High Commission in Lagos assess applications for entry into the UK. Applications are submitted via courier (DHL or UPS) or at a VFS (Visa Facilitation Service) Office. For further information check the British High Commission website.
Please note: the previous restriction preventing first-time visa applications from applicants aged 18-30 for business or visitor visa was lifted on 17 March 2006.
Useful information regarding visa applications can be found on the UK Visas website - this includes full briefing materials and downloadable application forms.
