How and when to apply

Home / About / Accommodation / How and when to apply

Follow our step-by-step guide to applying for accommodation.

Applications open in February, and you don’t need to wait until you receive your exam results.

If you’ve accepted an offer to study at the University of Sunderland (conditional or unconditional) even if we are your insurance choice, you’ll need to think about what type of accommodation to apply for.

Check if you're eligible for our Accommodation Scholarship.

Step 1

Register your details online, including email address and student application number (found on your CAS/study offer letter). For example: UA0LTM/123456789, student application number is 123456789.

Step 2

A unique validation code will be emailed to you instantly. If you fail to receive your validation code please check your spam/junk folders, if it’s not there then email

Step 3

Once you receive your validation code you can log into your account (you only need to use this code when you first log in). Keep your login details safe as you will need these details to check the progress of your application.

Step 4

Log in and create a new application. Add your choices of accommodation and any additional information you would like us to know. Then submit! You’ll receive an automatic email confirming that you have submitted an application.

Step 5
