PG Cert in Academic Practice

The Post Graduate Certificate in Academic Practice is a qualification offerd to all academic staff at the University Of Sunderland.

The Post Graduate Certificate consists of a 40 credit (Level 7) core module and one option module.

The core module is EDPM05 Introduction to Academic Practice which runs all the way through the programme (year-long)

Your choice of option modules are:

EDPM06 – Assessment and Feedback for Learning (20 credits Level 7)

EDPM08 – Introduction to Digital Learning and Assessment (20 credits Level 7)

The Post Graduate Certificate in Academic Practice has been mapped to the UKPSF and is accredited by the Higher Education Academy (HEA) as a programme which leads to Fellowship of the HEA. The award of Fellowship is dependent on the student providing evidence of achievement against Descriptor 2. Descriptor 2 details how a Fellow demonstrates a broad understanding of effective approaches to teaching and learning support as key contributions to high quality student learning.

Students undertaking this programme are expected to have a substantial teaching workload which should equate to more than 100 hours of direct student contact per annum. The majority of participants will be academics on a teaching and research contract although the programme is open to research assistants and associates who also contribute to teaching. You must have your line managers approval to undertake the programme.

Assessment methods vary across the programme and are specific to each validated module.
