BA (Hons) Events Management

Alexander Taylor felt immediately at home after visiting the University of Sunderland on an Open Day. He chose to study at Sunderland because he liked the module content and the fact that the course featured research trips and a placement year with opportunities globally. After completing his degree in Events Management, he secured a position at Isuzu UK managing a range of national events.

Before going to university, I was working as a Medical Receptionist and the role offered little in terms of career development. I found myself wanting a job I enjoyed and that offered both career progression and personal development. I thought long and hard about what I enjoyed and ended up choosing the BA (Hons) Events Management degree as this aligned well with my personal interests.

My favourite part of the course would have to be the Events Fieldwork module, which consisted of a research trip to New York City. Being able to combine research with a trip to one of the world’s most iconic cities really was an amazing opportunity.

Following graduation, I started a temporary position as an Events Administrator at Isuzu UK, within three months I was made a permanent member of staff and progressed to Events Coordinator. I have since been promoted to my current position as Events & PR Executive. I have managed a range of national events for the company, from conferences to incentive trips and several vehicle launches attended by major press publications.

My days at the University of Sunderland were very varied, and I look back on them fondly. The environment was fun and welcoming whilst the tutors were warm, knowledgeable and supportive."
