Jonathon Swales

Sunderland, UK

BSc (Hons) Mental Health Nursing Practice

Working in a call centre helped Jonathon Swales realise he wanted to be in a job where he could help people face to face. Jonathan decided that the BSc (Hons) Mental Health Nursing Practice course at the University of Sunderland was the right fit for him.

I chose the University of Sunderland as it's of a very high standard when it comes to Higher Education, and also provides excellent facilities. You also have the opportunity to participate in a wide range of extracurricular activities and sports, such as tennis and dodgeball.

Another reason I chose Sunderland was that you have the chance to practise your clinical skills with PCPIs (Patient, Carer and Public Involvement). These are people who have suffered previously from mental illnesses and offer their time to come into the University and assist students with their studies.

I would recommend the University as the lecturers are very knowledgeable about the course they're teaching and they're always there to help if you have any problems. Alongside the fantastic facilities, it's the perfect learning environment."
