The two-year FdSc Sports Coaching combines academic study with practical work-based learning and allows you to top-up to a full honours degree with just one additional year of study. We continuously update the course content to ensure it remains aligned with industry needs, helping you prepare for a new role or career progression. Topics you'll cover include:

Delivered at East Durham College, this degree offers the opportunity to engage in work-based learning during both years of study, either within the college or through a local organisation. This hands-on experience is an excellent way to network with potential employers and enhance your CV.

Upon completion, you can enter the final year of our BSc (Hons) Sports Coaching and Physical Education course. Previous graduates have gone into roles such as sports coach or instructor, sports management, fitness centre manager, and PE teacher.

How you'll learn

This foundation degree combines academic study with work-based learning, so you'll be learning in the workplace as well as the classroom. Teaching will take place at East Durham College(opens in new tab).

Teaching methods include practical sessions, lectures, discussions, case studies, and workshops. We also encourage you to develop independent study skills.

Assessment methods include an evaluation of work experience, reports, presentations, and practical tests.
