Student Shadowing

Want to spend a day in the life of a University of Sunderland student?

Throughout the year, we organise 'Student Shadowing' days, where you can spend a day shadowing a Sunderland student around campus.

Get a student's-eye view of university life – you can see what a real lecture is like, find out where students relax between classes and even get a chance to see where you might be living in one of our University accommodation.

If there's anything else you want to see while you're on campus, just ask the student you're shadowing, and they'll show you around.

You'll spend three or four hours on campus, and we'll try to match you with a student who's on the course you're applying for.

Spending a few hours with a current student will also be the perfect time for you to ask questions and find out everything you want to know about studying at Sunderland.

When

Student Shadowing can be booked throughout the year from September to May, depending on course timetables.

Why

For Catia Garcia, a Student Ambassador and a member of the Student Shadowing team, being able to show the student life from her perspective was hugely rewarding and useful.

She said: “Having that responsibility was great for me and being able to show a new student around was really enjoyable – it was good to be able to help students with things that an Open Day can’t."

Shadowing sessions typically last between three and four hours, with many students finding that they make lasting friends through the service.
