Sunderland Abroad

Sunderland Abroad is an incredible experience that allows you to study for one or two semesters of your second year at one of our exchange partners.

Here at the University of Sunderland, we have short-term summer options, one semester and yearly programmes available. This way you have the choice of a time frame that can work for you so you can gain international experience for anything from two weeks to three months.

The time you spend abroad replaces the time you would have spent in Sunderland so there is no need to extend your studies. Plus, the credit gained from the time spent abroad will be transferred back to your records in Sunderland.

How the Study Abroad programme will fit into your studies:

Once registered, you continue to be a student of the University of Sunderland during your time abroad.

Tuition fees will still be payable to the University of Sunderland. There will be no tuition fees payable to the host university.

Student loans are available and access to the University Hardship Fund will not be affected.

The Study Abroad team will assist you with your application and guide you through the process.

Please check with your programme leader to make sure your course is eligible for Study Abroad.

Where can I go?

The universities available to you will depend upon the course you are studying and the current availability of places at the partner institutions.

We currently have places in USA, Australia, Germany, Norway, Canada, Malaysia, South Korea, Hungary and France.
