Feyi Bunmi Olatunji

Monrovia, Liberia

PGCE Education (DL)

Feyi Bunmi Olatunji was working as a banker before moving to Hong Kong and deciding to change her life. She is now studying for the PGCE Education (DL) and hopes to become a qualified teacher in the UK after graduation.

I chose to study at the University of Sunderland because of the fantastic reputation it has. I knew that the University would help me to develop my professional skills. It is also one of the institutions recognised by the Education Bureau of Hong Kong to become a qualified teacher. Teaching is a newfound career path for me – before I moved to Hong Kong, I was actually working as a banker in Liberia. Studying this course has allowed me to take an important step forward and develop in my new career.

I have found the best aspect of this course to be the quality of the teaching practice, but the practical elements have also allowed me to test the theory out and implement it in my classes. You're in safe hands with the tutors and they're very passionate about supporting you throughout the course. If you’re researching which university might be right for you, look no further – Sunderland is the best place!

My career aims after completing the course are to gain Qualified Teacher Status in the UK and I’m now one step closer to achieving this. I’d describe my experience studying at the University of Sunderland as breathtaking, amazing and exciting!"
