MA Education

Rebecca Pittman-Wood chose the University of Sunderland to pursue her teaching career as she knew the Education courses were highly ranked. After completing her BA (Hons) Primary Education course, she chose to continue her studies to further her employability and went on to complete the MA Education course.

After leaving sixth form, I knew I wanted to be a teacher. I chose the University of Sunderland as its Education courses are ranked as some of the best in the country. Staying local and having opportunities to undertake placements in local educational settings was important to me and I liked the friendly and welcoming feel to the University. When I graduated from the BA (Hons) Primary Education, I wanted to further my skills and employability as a postgraduate student and so chose to study MA Education.

The best aspect of the course was the choice of modules. They were all relevant to current educational issues and you're provided with tutors who have recent experience and knowledge in the field of education. The staff at the University cannot do enough for you and they are always there whenever you need support and guidance. The campuses are modern, well-equipped and inviting, and a great place to study. I used the Study Skills support to improve my critical thinking skills, which helped me gain higher marks on my assignments.

I would advise prospective students to work hard and be organised. Make sure you study to achieve the grades you know you can achieve and be the best that you can be!

I have had a fantastic time studying at the University of Sunderland. Being able to study current topics with research-leading staff means you can look at the world in a different way.”
