Case Study

Jenny Carley

PGCE Education (DL)

Jenny Carley was teaching at an international school in France before embarking on the PGCE Education (DL) at the University of Sunderland. After overcoming many challenges during her studying, Jenny is graduating with the aim of progressing her teaching career and gaining even more experience within different international schools.

I discovered the University of Sunderland whilst I was researching online for institutions that offered an online degree in Education. The University offered a very comprehensive course and curriculum, and the teaching practice component really interested me. After studying on the course, I’ve found that one of the best aspects is the teaching practice module and the two modules at master's level 7.

I would definitely recommend this course to any new or experienced teachers, particularly those within the international school circuit who want to experience studying for a PGCE. My advice to prospective students would be to take advantage of all the amazing resources available at the University. During my studies I contracted Covid-19, and I had to rest and extend one of my assignment deadlines, but my module tutor was very understanding.

If I was to sum up my experience of studying at the University of Sunderland, I’d say it has been an amazing learning journey."
