Feyi Bunmi Olatunji

Monrovia, Liberia

PGCE Education (IDL)

Feyi was working as a banker before moving to Hong Kong and deciding to change her life. She is now studying the PGCE Education via Independent Distance Learning and hopes to become a qualified teacher in the UK after graduation.

I chose to study at the University of Sunderland because of the reputation it has. I knew that the University would help me to develop my professional skills. It is also one of the institutions recognised by the Education Bureau of Hong Kong to become a qualified teacher. Teaching is a newfound career path for me, before I moved to Hong Kong in 2011, I was actually working as a banker in Liberia. Studying this course has allowed me to take an important step forward and develop in my new career.

I have found the best aspects of this course to be the quality of the teaching practice, the practical elements have also allowed me to test the theory out and implement it in my classes. You are in safe hands with the tutors, and they are very passionate about supporting you through the course. If you’re researching what University is right for you, look no more – this is the best place for you!

My career aims after completing the course are to gain Qualified Teacher Status in the UK and I’m now one step closer to achieving this. I’d describe my experience studying at the University of Sunderland as breathtaking, amazing and exciting!"
