This masterclass is aimed at team leaders, coordinators, staff, and volunteers working in charities, community groups, and voluntary sector organisations across Sunderland. Designed for those with little or no formal leadership training, the course provides practical tools and strategies to lead volunteers effectively.
Participants will develop the skills and confidence needed to build positive relationships, maintain motivation, and create meaningful volunteer experiences that support both individual and organisational goals.
Following successful completion of this course, participants could progress to other short courses in Leadership. For those with relevant experience who want to grow as strategic leaders, the Senior Leader MBA helps participants explore their intrapersonal development, build high-performing teams, and contribute to sustainable strategic goals. Alternatively, the MBA Top-Up allows learners to build on their managerial experience and qualifications, further their professional development, and gain an advantage in an ever-evolving job market.
In this masterclass, you’ll cover the fundamentals of leading volunteers, including retention, and engagement strategies. You’ll also explore how to communicate effectively, handle challenges, and create a positive team culture. The course combines interactive discussions and practical exercises to help you apply what you learn straight away.
This course will take place on campus for one full day on November 3 2025, running 9am to 5pm.
